Sage fly rods offers 45 different models of Z-Axis fly rods. These rods range in lengths from 7 feet 6 inches to 14 feet 6 inches, and can handle 3-weight to 10-weight fly lines. Z-Axis fly rods are available in both two- and four-piece configurations to accommodate any fly angler's preference. Each Z-Axis fly rod is hand-built using Sage's latest graphite blank technology, which provides a light-weight, fast-action rod with plenty of power to cast long distances. Suggested pricing in 2009 for Z-Axis rods range from $630 to $920.

Perks

Sage gives fly anglers a myriad of choices with the Z-Axis rods. There are 32 four-pieces rods that are easy to travel with; five two-piece rods for those who prefer more crisp feeling rods, and eight two-handed rods that professional salmon and steelhead guides around the world prefer thanks to these light-weight, long-casting spey rods.

Sacrifices

Sage Z-Axis rods are designed for professional anglers and come with a steep price tag. Beginning fly anglers need to look elsewhere as these fast-action fly rods are difficult to use when learning to fly cast.

Bottom Line

If you are serious about fly fishing and are ready to upgrade your gear, the Sage Z-Axis fly rods will take your game to the next level with their exceptional performance.
