Perks
With a boiling time at normal altitudes (below 12,000 feet) of four minutes, it is easy to get hot water ready in a flash after a long day's trek. The one-touch push-button lighting system eliminates the need for matches, and the stove does not require priming.
Sacrifices
At higher altitudes (over 12,000 feet), boil times are slower. The canister and stove are not compatible with other camp stove systems, so you are restricted to using Jetboil accessories. The stove is powered strictly by isobutane gas.
Bottom Line
The Jetboil GCS is a great camp stove for any activity or trek at altitudes below 12,000 feet. Easy packing, fast boil times and the one-touch igniter make it not only easy to use but a good stove for those new to the wilderness experience.
