Kelty Mantra 5 Tent Review

Kelty Mantra 5 Tent Review
The Kelty Mantra 5 is a three-season tent with a five-camper capacity. It is widely available at camping and outdoor stores and retails for approximately $400. This tent's sleeping area is approximately 10 feet by 9 feet, and the rain fly, a terrific feature, extends the tent's footprint 40 inches on two sides, offering an area for storage and shelter. The trail weight of the tent is 14.5 pounds, including stakes and cables. The floor is waterproofed, so a tarp is not required.

Perks

This tent offers several advantages, including great size-to-weight ratio, a roomy interior, 5 feet of interior headroom, effective waterproofing, and sturdy construction. The tent's aluminum poles are more heavy-duty than the typical fiberglass ones, without compromising on weight. The tent has a color-coded pole and clip system for easy setup. Two doors with noiseless zippers ensure that everyone has a sound sleep.

Sacrifices

Five campers will be snug in this tent. A more realistic option is four campers with extra storage space. The 14.5-pound weight is heavier than some tents, but the 11 x 30-inch packed size of the tent means it can be easily carried into backcountry.

Bottom Line

If you have a camping family or a small group of regular camping buddies, this tent is an excellent choice. Its waterproofing is reliable, the construction is resilient, and with the fly, the vestibules offer extra storage and shelter. The cost is quite reasonable for the size and features.
