Perks
In my experience, Clear Clinical sunscreen spray has some advantages, especially in skin care. When used in conjunction with other Clear Clinical products, I've noticed a reduction in topical acne and skin oiliness overall, and the sunscreen feels light, allowing the skin to breathe once it's applied.
Sacrifices
There are three major issues to consider when using this sunscreen in the backcountry. First, while Clear Clinical is labeled as "water-resistant," I found that I needed to reapply it often in hot conditions. Second, the Clear Clinical sunscreen spray only comes in SPF 30. This may not provide enough protection in tough conditions where UV exposure is boosted. Finally, Clear Clinical is expensive--over $30 for the four-ounce container.
Bottom Line
Unless you have special needs for your skin that require you to use Clear Clinical sunscreen spray, you'll be better off with a regular waterproof sunscreen. The expense is less, and you can buy your choice of SPF rating.
