Perks
All Diamondback Americana rods come standard with stainless steel snake guides and a Hialoy stripping guide for reduced friction during casting. Premium cork handles, wooden reel seats and nickle-plated hardware give these rods the look and feel of a rod that is twice the price.
Sacrifices
The fighting butt on the 9 weight rods is too short for prolonged fights with big fish. The lack of longer rods in the 11- to 13-foot range prohibits many steelhead or salmon fly fishing anglers from looking at this series of rods.
Bottom Line
For a series of fly rods to be produced in the USA for under $200 is astonishing in this day and age of Far-East tackle production. These rods are durable and are an incredible value.
