Description

REI LED Trail Cap

The REI LED Trail cap combines the sun protection of a baseball cap with the light of a small headlamp. It's great for reading at camp and using on the trail. 3 built-in LEDs can be set to flash mode, low beam or high beam with the simple push of a button inside the brim. Slim power-pack tucked under sweatband features 2 coin-size, easily replaceable CR2032 lithium batteries. Cotton/nylon construction is soft, lightweight, quick drying and machine washable. Polyester mesh inserts at the sides improve airflow. CoolMax® sweatband wicks moisture away from forehead and dries quickly. The REI LED Trail cap has a webbing strap in back that adjusts the fit. 1 size fits most.

I like it, but have comments

I like it a lot, but haven't used it much yet. The one-button interface, like so many, is a little annoying. If you've clicked it one through three times to select the mode you want, you need to click it the remaining number of times to turn it off. That's a nuisance. I've had other lights like this that would know after they'd been on for a while that you'd want the next click to just turn it off - which is convenient.Also, I have a large head and often the one-size-fits-all caps are too small. This one is very large so I've got it adjusted down toward the small end of the range, which is great for me, but someone with a smaller head might run out of adjustment or have a big overhang on the velcro tab with little holding contact. I plan to buy another one or two and keep them around for future replacement. Quality seems very good.
