Hardy yet polished, the Patagonia Torrentshell Trench rain coat is undeterred by blown-in Atlantic squalls. It's built for bad conditions yet is packable and lightweight. Tear-resistant, 2.5-layer nylon ripstop fabric has a waterproof, breathable H2No&$174; barrier that channels moisture away from skin and slides easily over layers. Weatherproofing details include an adjustable, removable hood that secures with hidden snaps and a full-length snap placket complete with 2-way zipper and stormflap. Articulated elbows enhance moyion; cuff tabs have 2-position snaps. Patagonia Torrentshell Trench coat has 2 front drop-in snap-close pockets and zippered interior mesh pocket. Front and back princess seaming and darts create a feminine silhouette; elasticized waist at back. Regular cut is not too tight and not too loose; it's just right. 100% recyclable through Patagonia's Common Threads Recycling Program—simply return your worn out item to Patagonia.

Great Quality but Hood Too Big

This is a beautiful weather garment for city wear. I use it as my "commuter coat" in Seattle where I work in the city and have a long commute. It's great in all but cold weather (unless you layer underneath--but buy large if you need to do that as it's a fairly snug fit).However, the hood is much too large. It's as if the Patagonia designers used a climbing coat template and designed it to go over a helmet. I have to hold the hood back when it's raining or it flops over my eyes. The adjustment system doesn't do the job as there is nothing in the back to shorten it from the base of the skull, which is the problem area. This is the only reason I would not recommend it. I thought about returning it but I do like the other features and it's really great quality otherwise.
