Great carry-on option
I bought this for a 3-week trip to Africa because I needed to take everything in just 2 bags I could carry onto small planes. It was perfect when used with zippered mesh "cubes" inside to separate types of clothing, personals, etc. Also great to use as a backpack in airports, freeing up your hands. I was forced to check the Patagonia bag on one flight, and the blue color made it easy to spot on the carousel, but it emerged with a small jagged tear on one side. Since it's pretty durable material, I'm guessing a strap got snagged on a conveyor belt mechanism and sucked it into a gear or something. So lesso

Borrowed it, then bought it
A friend let me borrow the 60L bag for a 10 day service project to Haiti. I was skeptical at first because I didn't consider myself any kind of a "duffle guy". A year later I purchased one for myself. What I like about it in order of importance to me: 1) Adjustable shoulder straps that allows me to throw on my back walking to and from car, terminals, etc. This is why I settled on the 60L as the 45L does not have shoulder straps and the 90 & 120 were too big to serve as a Carry On 2) Fits in the overhead compartment even though it is designated as "not Carry On size" under the description. 3) Main zip

Great Bag
Just packed this up for a long weekend. Plan to carry on board instead of check. In a few weeks will use is as a tri-gear bag. Great size. Not too big, not too small!

Best duffel bag I've owned
This has exactly what I want in a duffel. Large capacity, small enough to work as a carry-on, and water resistant. I am amazed how much stuff I can fit in this thing. The backpack straps make it easy to carry. Just throw in a few gear organizers and you can maximize the space.
