Love this bag!
I spent an hour looking at all the available commuter/purse/travel bags that REI had. I wanted a purse that I could organize easily so I could find what I was looking for in the dark (or behind the seat in the car). And one by one I found reasons why they would not work for me - noisy velco, poor design with pockets, no room for a small water bottle, etc. This one fit all the demands that I realized I had as I was looking. I didn't even realize at the time that this bag was made for "over the head, hug the body" use. But once I realized that it did, I liked it even more. But be aware of how the straps are designed for the over the head use, because if you don't like that fit, and use it just over the shoulder, it will slide off frequently, which can be a bother. Sooo, for short distances I use it over the shoulder, and for longer walks or shopping it is over the head and up against my body - fitting perfectly.

great bag for CHINA BUT....
I USED THIS BAG FOR TRAVELING AROUND CHINA. IT WAS GREAT, I FELT MY STUFF WAS SECURE, BUT I DID NOT KNOW THAT IT WASN'T WATERPROOF - FIRST DOWNPOUR - EVERYTHING INSIDE WAS SOAKED!! I WASH
