If you like Merrell... You'll love these
Took the chameleons on a 8 miler right out of the box, and had a great hike. They were light but supportive, and I didn't have to fuss tightening the ankle and loosening the toes to get a good fit. To breath or not to breath is often the question I ask myself because I live in a desert state and sweaty feet are more common than swampy feet... But spring is still wet, and this summer is planning to be a Unitas summer so I'll need waterproof shoes.... We'll see how breathable they turn out to be. I've been hiking in the Moabs, but they don't have the support for longer hikes requiring a backpack. They are so flexible I get blisters. These look to be the shoes for longer and or wet hikes for me. Three hikes down, and not one complaint... Other than the color.

Perfect boots
This boot is perfect for people with narrow feet like myself. I took them hiking for the first time this past weekend and they were fantastic. Great support and traction in all the mud from the snow run off. Also walked threw a few streams and my feet stayed completly dry the entire time.

Cadillac of Hiking Boots!
Owned a pair of chameleon 3's and waiting on the 5's to arrive in the mail. Although I haven't hiked in the 5's as of yet. If they are true to past products, this boot will be all that you will need to venture out in any terrain. Merrill makes such a superior product that my last pair of boots took me caving in Malaysia, gulch hiking in Guam, and countless miles of hiking the hawaiian islands before I reluctantly realized i needed a new pair. Lava rocks are known to wear any hikers footwear down to its soles, but the chameleon is such a quality product the last pair didn't need to be replaced until after 300 miles of use. I don't expect the 5's to be anything but better. Boots are the most important purchase for any hiker and these will not disappoint!
