great for trail running

I use these shoes for running on firm gravel trails. I usually run on roads and need a bit more padding than these provide, as I can easily feel it in my shins after running on road without much padding. However, these are great for trails. They are lightweight and breathable. As with any of the running shoes, if you run a lot as I do, they will wear out, which is why I didn't explicitly list that as a con since I'm used to shoes getting worn after lots of use.

Awesome shoes

Great for gym and road running. Supports my medium-high arches very well. Light, breathable, and comfortable. Definitely worth the money!

Nice Minimal Shoes

I have to have dedicated shoes for work, and so I have become used to a very flat shoe during my shift. After work when I put on my regular shoes, my feet would hurt! I needed minimalist shoes. So I went to REI. The staff was very helpful in picking out this shoe. There is a noticeable difference between this brand/model and the Vivobarefoot models. These have a slight bit of cushion but are still "zero drop" so for me they are perfect since I have been transitioning. These are the only shoes that I wear and I have been wearing them for about a month straight so

Great shoe - exceeded expectations!

I wanted a lightweight shoe to take to Europe - something easy to pack that would look good and hold up with a lot of walking. This shoe was all that and more. Not only did I actually get compliments on the shoe's looks - this shoe ended up being my main shoe for every activity - on both trails and streets, it was comfortable in all conditions! I was worried about traction when I had to hike down a slick cobblestone trail in pouring rain, and the traction surprised me - lots of grip, no slip. Because I chose the shoe in black, it worked well for city activities and looked good with casual evening wear. If I had known how well this shoe would perform in all conditions I would have left my other pair of shoes (a heavier Merrell trail shoe) at home!

All-around shoe

I use these shoes on my bicycle commutes (on flat pedals). There is just enough traction that I don't slip on the pedals, and the shoes don't get heavy if I get rained on. They are casual but not "sloppy" if you want to wear them out and about. I have only run with them once... when I got a flat and had to run home. They did the job and I didn't mind the road feel, but they are certainly more of a miniminalist design, so don't expect cushioning. Also, when I tried them on in the store I felt like they were maybe a little small (not in width but length), but they seemed to have stretched to "true to fit" within a week or so of wearing.

Good purchase

Transitioning to zero lift running shoe, minimal issues. As with anything new, be easy on yourself to adjust. Great comfort, wear almost everyday.

Love them, but wearing out quickly

I run 10-20 miles per week on average, and I bought these in late February for my road running shoe because I finally had to accept that Vibram Five Fingers doesn't quite fit my pinky toes. These are very comfortable and stylish. However, despite t

Happy Medium Shoe

I love minimalist running, but I can't run in Vibrams all the time (I run in both Vibrams and Mizuno shoes). I needed something that offered more cushion than Vibrams, but was lighter than a running shoe. These Merrells are the perfect happy medium between the two. I've run for a month now in them, and I have no complaints.
