Reviews of the Days Inn Cairo Illinois Hotel

Reviews of the Days Inn Cairo Illinois Hotel
Cairo, Illinois holds an unpleasant place in history. This small town on the Ohio and Mississippi rivers, with less than 4000 residents and the highest child poverty rate in Illinois, is known for the 1909 public lynching of black resident Will James. Segregation and racial tension has infused this town through to 1969, when it became a place of a major civil rights struggle that had residents boycotting white owned businesses for 10 years. Filled with architectural landmarks, like The Riverlore Building, the town is currently trying to save itself from full abandonment by developing tourism to focus on the town's history and importance to the two rivers. The Days Inn Cairo is one of the few places to stay when visiting this historic region of Illinois.
