Several resorts offer special attractions and festivities to celebrate the holiday without having to worry about cooking, after-dinner dishes or decorating.

Country Christmas Getaway

The Country Springs Hotel in Waukesha, Wisconsin, is home to a 45,000 sq. ft. indoor water park that is open year round. This hotel is also home to the Country Christmas, Wisconsin's largest outdoor Christmas light display. The Christmas Getaway package includes hotel accommodations, one carload admission to the light show and four water park passes to celebrate your holiday. As of September 2009, packages start at $139.99 per week night and $159.99 on Fridays and Saturdays. This price also includes a $25 food and beverage voucher along with four cookies and four cups of cocoa inside the Christmas Village at the Country Christmas light display.

Gaylord Palms Hotel

Experience a winter wonderland at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Kissimmee, Florida. This hotel features a 54-ft. Christmas tree and a holiday attraction called ICE, which features more than 2 million pounds of hand-carved ice depicting interactive holiday scenes. As of September 2009, this hotel's Best of Florida Christmas Getaway Package starts at $199 per night and includes hotel accommodations, two tickets to ICE with a souvenir photograph, an opportunity to create a personalized gingerbread house, and Christmas bedtime stories appearing via television in each room. Children can visit with Santa Claus in person at the hotel or reach him via email.

Dude Ranch Christmas

Christmas at the Vista Verde Dude Ranch is a week-long celebration. As of 2009, Christmas week starts on December 19 and lasts through December 26. Activities include tree cutting, homemade decorations, sleigh rides, caroling, guided snowshoe or cross-country ski tours, sledding and horseback riding. The weekly rates start at $3400 for adults and $2700 for children 11 and under. This price includes room accommodations, three meals a day and a Christmas Day feast along with nightly entertainment.
