Amelia Island is located off the northeast coast of Florida just 33 miles away from Jacksonville. The island offers activities such as kayaking, hiking, horseback riding, biking and fishing as well as luxurious spas and fine-dining options. There are a variety of vacation properties, including Victorian homes, cozy cottages, condominiums and even a replica lighthouse.

Mimi's Hideaway

Mimi's Hideaway is a two-bedroom, one-bath beach cottage that can accommodate up to four people comfortably. This cottage also houses an upstairs unit available for rent known as Rosie's Retreat, which contains two more bedrooms and another bathroom. Mimi's Hideaway is located within a short walk of the beach and features an enclosed sun porch, satellite TV, central air, and washer and dryer. As of September 2009, rates are $235 nightly and $1,410 weekly from March 1 to September 2. Between September 3 and February 28, rates drop to $180 nightly and $1,080 weekly.

The Williams House Bed and Breakfast

The Amelia Island Williams House offers 10 decorated theme rooms available for rent inside a Victorian-style home. As of September 2009, nightly rentals ranged from $165 to $275 depending on the room choice and season. This rate also includes breakfast, beach towels, umbrellas and chairs. Guests are greeted with fresh flowers and homemade cookies waiting in their room upon arrival. Horse-drawn carriage rides, sunset sailing, and a riverboat cruise are available for an additional fee.

Amelia Island Plantation

The Amelia Island Plantation is a 1,350-acre resort with hotel rooms and condominiums available for rent. The resort offers beachside cabanas, tennis courts, swim lessons, fishing and nature tours among other activities. As of September 2009, all-inclusive packages range from $577 to $1,873 per night depending on the size of the unit. These packages include three meals per day, greens fees on three resort golf courses, bicycles, fishing rods and beach chair rental.

Katie's Light

Enjoy the natural beauty of Amelia Island in an unique vacation rental designed to mimic the Thomas Point Lighthouse located on Chesapeake Bay. This three-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath home is named Katie's Light and features a wraparound porch and spiral staircase leading up to the second floor. As of September 2009, rental costs are $475 per night and $3,150 weekly from March 1 to September 6. Between September 7 and February 28, rates are $380 per night and $2,280 weekly. The rental comfortably accommodates up to eight guests and includes cable TV, a fully equipped kitchen, beach chairs, washer and dryer, dishwasher, linens and towels, and central heat and air.
