Vacation Ideas for a Girls Weekend

Vacation Ideas for a Girls Weekend
With the stress of work, a girls' weekend can be the perfect getaway. Lake Tahoe, Colorado, Appalachian Mountains and Hawaii are great weekend destinations for women in search of skiing, hiking, kayaking and other recreational activities. Travelers can fly into any state along the Appalachian Trail. Lihue Airport (LIH) and Port Allen Airport(PAK) both service Kailua, Hawaii. Fly to Lake Tahoe Airport when heading for the slopes.

Lake Tahoe

Nothing says girls vacation like an all-female ski trip to Lake Tahoe. Stay at the Great Bear, located in the New Village at Northstar. Three and four bedroom condominium residences are available and facility amenities include a fitness center, skating rink and hot tub. Take to the ski slopes or gather your friends for a tour around Lake Tahoe during the day and stroll the streets of Truckee for a night of shopping and dining.

Appalachian Mountains Trails

Call your hiker friends and head to the Appalachian Mountains for an all-female hiking tour. This 2,175-mile long footpath stretches across 14 eastern states starting from Maine and moving all the way down to Georgia. The trail is free and lodging is established along the trail for easy convenience. Make reservations in advance of your trip to make sure all the women in your group can lodge together or in the same facility. Purchase maps from the Appalachian Trail Conservancy so you and your group can get to the roads and towns you need.

Kailua, Hawaii

Have all the women in your group pack their kayaking gear and head to Kailua, Hawaii. Kailua Sailboards and Kayaks Inc. offers tours for inexperienced and expert paddlers. Explore miles of white sand beach before heading to protected offshore islands to kayak and enjoy the marine life in the area. Four-hour discovery tours start at just $69.
