The Crockett Hotel

A historic Texas hotel, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Crockett Hotel was built on the land Davy Crockett and other Texans defended the Alamo in 1836. They were defeated, but the phrase, "Remember the Alamo" was born. Menger Hotel

Located adjacent to the Alamo and the River Walk, the Menger Hotel was built in 1859 and is a member of the Historic Hotels of America. The Menger boasts the largest heated pool in San Antonio, a full-service spa and a fitness room. Its restaurant, the Colonial Room, was voted the number two hotel restaurant in the 2009 Reader's Choice Awards.

Often considered a little overboard by business guests, leisure travelers find it over-the-top. Located on the River Walk and just a short trek to the famed El Mercado Market Square, this hotel is a good base camp for the exploring traveler. Located on the River Walk level, The Citrus restaurant is a popular night spot and was number two on the 2009 Reader's Choice Awards (tied with the Colonial Room at the Menger Hotel), offering Spanish influenced dishes.

Watermark Hotel and Spa

The Watermark Hotel and Spa is one of San Antonio's elite hotels. Suitable for business executives and CEOs as well as the leisure traveler, the Watermark gives you a bit of a break on the Texas décor. Relaxing and contemporary, it is a great hotel to unwind after a long day of exploring. Ask for a River View room and you will be pleasantly surprised with a balcony exposing views of the River Walk. There is a 19-room spa on the premises if you need some extra attention after a long hike and a café and pool on the roof that gives you some relief from the Texas heat.
