Baguio is an attractive city in the northern region of the Philippines. Located in the Benguet Province, the city of Baguio is situated nearly 5,000 feet above sea level in the heart of the Cordillera Central mountain range. The city is hilly and the terrain becomes more rugged on the outskirts of town. Known for its mild climate and outdoor activities, Baguio is a popular destination for residents of the Philippines as well as international tourists looking to enjoy the natural setting.

Burnham Park

Burnham Park is the oldest park in Baguio, located right in the center of the city. Tranquil pathways take you along colorful flowerbeds and thickly wooded landscapes. Follow the bike trails or play sports at the basketball, soccer and tennis courts. A picturesque man-made lake is the perfect place for boating activities on warmer afternoons. Live concerts are also held occasionally at the Grand Stand in the park.

Mt. Sto. Tomas and Mt. Cabuyao

Mt. Sto. Tomas and Mt. Cabuyao are two of the highest peaks in the Philippines. Located just outside the city of Baguio, these two mountains offer panoramic views of the city for those who venture up the slopes. Trails lead from the smaller Mt. Cabuyao to the summit of the large Mt. Sto. Tomas. Prepare yourself for a hard workout scaling the steep slopes. The top of Mt. Sto. Tomas is marked by a cross with stained-glass highlights and an inscription proclaiming Mt. Sto. Tomas the highest commutable peak in the Philippines. The best time to go up the mountains is in the morning because the clouds sometimes block the view in the afternoon.

Mines View Park

Baguio is known for its industrial heritage, and Mines View Park is an interesting place to check out. A viewing deck is situated high above the mines where visitors can take in the sweeping views. Locals have been mining for gold and other metals in this area for many years, and a number of tourist shops and eateries have sprung up in recent times to cater to the visitors who come to see the scenic area surrounding the mines. Rent binoculars for a better view of the valley or get your picture taken with a native Igorot tribesman.
