The town started out as a resort area for those that could afford to travel to the beach, and it later incorporated in the 1890's. The part of the town that is original to the 1800's is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places, and there are many shops and attractions to see while visiting the area.

Beach

If the beach is where you like to spend your vacation, Beach Haven has several water activities to choose from. You can rent a chair or bring your own to lie out in the sun, or take a walk while enjoying the breeze. There are surf and body boards for rent if you want to try your hand at the smaller Atlantic waves, or you could rent a bike and tour the beach area while doing a little shopping along the way. If you bring your own boat on vacation, there are public docks and ramps that allow you to put into the water. However there is usually a small fee for docking your boat. And since you are at the water, there is ample opportunity to fish either by charter boat, your own craft or along the surf.
