Winter Wonderland
Every year, from the end of December to the beginning of January, Hyde Park in central London is turned into Winter Wonderland. Amongst the many sights to see at the Winter Wonderland are Zippos Christmas Circus, the observation wheel with its heated pods offering spectacular views of the park, and the German Christmas market featuring 50 decorated chalets selling crafts and refreshments. However, one of the most popular things to do at the Winter Wonderland is to go ice skating at the outdoor ice rink. The rink is one of the biggest outdoor rinks in London and for an additional fee, ice guides are available to look after your group and escort you onto the ice.

Bankside Frost Fair
Another popular winter festival takes place at Bankside, close to the Tate gallery and stretching all the way out to Blackfriars Bridge and Southwark. It recreates the old medieval tradition of frost fairs on the frozen river Thames. The Frost Fair features a large sprawling Christmas market with 70 different stalls, ice sculptures, and plenty of food and mulled wine. Watch the procession of the Thames Cutters as they paddle across the river holding the Frost Fair flag. A real treat for those with children is a ride on a sled pulled by Siberian huskies. The ride is only available to children under 12, but it is sure to be a truly memorable experience.

Warwick Castle
Another great place to be in England during the month of December is at Warwick Castle. The castle is a medieval castle located near Warwick. It was originally built by William the Conqueror in 1068. The grounds around the castle, even in December, are spectacular, featuring a mill and engine house, a conservatory, and a Peacock and Victorian gardens. The castle holds a lot of events throughout the year, and December is no exception. Those with children can participate in the Breakfast with Santa package. There are also Christmas lunches offered throughout December, and on New Year's Eve the castle holds a medieval banquet. Consider also taking a candlelit tour of the castle which is a truly different way of experiencing Warwick Castle.
