The Best Dumpling Restaurants in NYC

The Best Dumpling Restaurants in NYC
If you've spent all day walking around Manhattan, seeing the city sights and the parks, there isn't a more satisfying ending than having a dose of Asian street food. Dumplings are a cheap way to fill up on great cooking at a variety of New York establishments. Many locations sell dumplings for just a few cents apiece, which encourages customers to order them by the dozen. However, a few of these restaurants stand out from the rest. If a quick bite that doesn't include the words "hot" or "dog" is what you are looking for, then Asian dumplings can really hit the spot.

Vanessa's Dumplings

Try the steamed pork buns, pork and chive dumplings, shrimp dumplings and the sesame bread. This restaurant is beloved both for its incredible dumplings and the outstandingly low prices. If you don't want to jostle for seats it's best to get your dumplings to go.

Dumpling House

With a diverse menu you can check out both the dumplings and the variations, such as rich dumpling soup. Buy them by the dozen and you can walk around the rest of Chinatown while eating one of the best treats in the area. It may sound strange, but Dumpling House also offers soybean milk to wash it down with.

Prosperity Dumpling

Down the street from Dumpling House is this attractive alternative. Dumpling House is popular and often packed, but this relatively new establishment (as of 2009) has only a fraction of the crowds. For something a little different, check out the stuffed sesame pancake. Like a dumpling squished flat, the stuffed pancake is an interesting blend of sesame bread and dumpling.
