Things to Do in Steamboat Springs, Colorado
Whether you are visiting in the summer or the winter, you'll find that there are plenty of outdoor activities in Steamboat Springs. In fact, the 2500 acre resort, which is now famous for skiing, was once a summer-only resort. In the winter, the resort is renowned for its dry, fluffy snow and tree-lined terrain. In the summer, it is a place to enjoy the rivers and explore the nearby mountains and forests.

Rafting

If you happen to be visiting in the summer time, consider a rafting trip along the Colorado or Eagle Rivers. The Colorado River is a great option for families and rafters of all skill levels. However, if you fancy trying something a little more difficult, visit the Eagle River, which features many Class II rapids as well as a fair amount of Class III and Class IV rapids. One popular company which offers rafting adventures in the Steamboat Springs area is Colorado River Runs.

Mountain Biking

Another great activity for the summer time in Steamboat Springs is mountain biking along the resort's many trails. You can rent mountain bikes at the resort as well as purchase separate lift tickets for both yourself and your mountain bike, to carry you on the gondola to the top and take a trail down. Only three trails are serviced by lifts. There are 50 other trails that are not served by a lift, which will take you into the forests, however this may involve more work as you'll have to make your way up the trails yourself.
