The Best Romantic Vacation Spots

The Best Romantic Vacation Spots

Benjamin Earwicker/sxc.hu

Even the most healthy of couples regularly need to recharge the romance from time to time. A romantic vacation is a great way to escape the confines of day-to-day living and get back in touch with each other. Whether spending a few nights along the south shore of Maine, exploring Kachemak Bay, Alaska, or watching the sun rise over Death Valley, a romantic vacation can be beneficial.

Yosemite NP

Head for the hills and a romantic vacation in Yosemite National Park. Though the park is a zoo during the peak summer months, those seeking a more romantic setting can visit during the winter for the time alone they crave. There are many lodging options in the park, but the grandest of them is the Ahwahnee Hotel. Rustically designed on the exterior, the interior design is a mix of Native American, Middle Eastern, Arts and Crafts Movement and Art Deco. Views of the valley are, without exaggeration, impressive and include granite monoliths of El Capitan and Half Dome, as well as nearby Angel Falls. Breakfast in the immense dining room followed by walks through snowy drifts are enough to make even the most hardened couple swoon.

New York City

Invest in urban romance and fly to New York City. Big, brash, congested New York City is an intoxicating sort of place. Those seeking a romantic setting in the city will not be disappointed. Whether picnicking in Central Park, dancing in Lincoln Square or enjoying a sunset sail in New York Bay, lovers are well taken care of. Note that partners who prefer not to sweat should avoid the humid summer months. There are hundreds of romantic places to stay in the city, but the Soho Grand Hotel manages to be both modern and classy, while occupying real estate in the heart of the art gallery district of the city.

Kaua'i

Fly across the pacific to the garden isle of Kaua'i. If cities and mountains don't do the trick, then maybe a few days on this luscious island will do. If you've ever wanted to madly kiss your partner while being sprayed with water from a tropical waterfall, Kaua'i is the place. Romantic types will reap the benefits from hikes along the inspiring Waimea Canyon, white sand beaches under towering cliff faces and diverse marine life to view via snorkeling or scuba diving tours. Avoid staying in the larger resorts and instead opt for a cottage along the shore.
