Walking Shoes
All cruises offer exciting shore excursions that may include shopping, scuba diving or interesting tours. Many cruise visitors do not expect to walk as much as they do, so they do not pack appropriate footwear. Most travelers pack flip flops or sandals and dress shoes for formal dining evenings and leave it at that. Make sure you pack a pair of shoes in between, light sport-type shoes that are enclosed to keep out sand and moisture and that offer good traction. Your feet will thank you.
A Sweater and a Jacket
Even the warmest cruise destinations can be a bit chilly after dark, especially with wind and the movement of the boat. Plan ahead by packing a light sweater and a shell-type jacket. Most cruises move through the tropics, and brief squalls and storms are not unheard of. Packing these items will enable you to enjoy your cruise no matter what the weather.
Binoculars
While most cruise passengers bring a camera along, not many think to bring binoculars, and some end up purchasing them onboard at an increased price. No matter where your cruise takes you, the ability to see beyond your visual range is a useful one to have. Much of the enjoyment of a cruise comes from the journey, not the destination, and even a simple, light pair of binoculars will enhance your ability to appreciate the various sights of your journey.
