Cancun is a seaside resort community like no other on earth. Its unique position on the Yucatan peninsula provides this paradise with what many people consider to be the perfect climate, all year long. The great weather also attracts an abundance of marine life, giving Cancun the ability to provide world class seafood cuisine with fish that is literally fresh from the water. Fish and seafood restaurants come in many varieties in Cancun, but some stand out among the crowd.

Lorenzillio's

If you're in the mood to treat yourself to something special, regardless of cost, then Lorenzillio's is the restaurant for you. This 5-Star establishment offers high-end seafood dining to those who are willing to pay a little extra to get the best of the best.

A variety of delicious seafood dishes can be found at Lorenzillio's, but the restaurant specializes in lobster. The lobster is caught locally in La Isla Mujeres. Guests quickly spot a wooden boat full of lobsters outside the entrance, allowing them to choose from the freshest catch before going inside. The lobster can be prepared a variety of ways, but the chef's specialty is grilled lobster served with calamari appetizers.

Captain's Cove

Like any good fish and seafood restaurant, Captain's Cove offers a shrimp and lobster dinner that will have you begging for more. The restaurant specializes in providing a wide assortment of shrimp inspired dishes, but what really sets Captain's Cove apart is a little taste of adventure that goes by the name Mr. Alligator.

Mr. Alligator is reported a friendly alligator who lives off the edge of the restaurant's elevated outdoor platform. Diners enjoy tossing leftovers to the alligator, who seems to enjoy a steady diet of seafood scraps. This makes Captain's Cove a popular restaurant for families with children.

Pirates

Sometimes convenience and getting a good value are the most important parts of a meal. When you eat at Pirates, you'll get these benefits without compromising on the quality of the food.

Located right on the beach, Pirates is as convenient as it gets in terms of Cancun restaurants. The fish and seafood restaurant is owned by Captain Dave, a transplant from Memphis, Tennessee. The Captain serves up delicious seafood meals as good as any resort, but for half the price. If you just want a good meal without dressing up or making reservations, Pirates is definitely the place to go.
