Going to the Beach
Certainly the most obvious attraction to Krabi and environs comes in the form of its beaches. Consider visiting Ao Nang Beach, a stretch of warm sand that forms a bay sheltering a grand total of 83 islands. Or take a walk to Railay Beach, popular for outdoor sports enthusiasts who enjoy a good game of soccer or volleyball (nets for the latter are set up there year-round). Mostly, though, tourists simply enjoy basking in the sun or playing in the waves that lap up against the perfect sand.

Rock Climbing
Take a good look at the myriad limestone cliffs that jut out from the ground all around Krabi. These cliffs are fantastic for rock climbers---and provide breathtaking views of the ocean, the beaches and the nearby islands from their airy summits. Some of the cliffs can actually be scaled simply by trekking up trails or trodden pathways. Others require knowledge of ropes and rock-climbing techniques. There's opportunity in this regard both for the inexperienced and the advanced.

Kayaking or Canoeing
Dotting the beach you'll find a variety of kayak- or canoe-rental establishments. By renting your own kayak or canoe, you'll be able to explore the bay of Krabi and the coastline in solitude from the ocean itself. Kayaks and canoes can typically be rented either by the hour or by the day. A few companies in the area also offer kayaking or canoeing tours that will take you up and down the coast and around several of the area's more scenic islands.
