Fun Things to Do in Atlantic City, New Jersey

Atlantic City may be well-known for its gambling venues, but there are also plenty of other amusing activities to do in this New Jersey seaside resort. Just walking its prominent boardwalk could fill an entire day or more, or you can pick from a number of other attractions in town. Some fun options may include a wacky museum, outlet shopping or a swimming good time at the city's aquarium.

Ripley's Believe It or Not! Museum

The fun starts with Ripley's Believe It or Not! Museum before you even walk in the door. The museum's facade looks like it's about to fall over or be smashed to smithereens with a wrecking ball. Step inside and find a host of unusual, unique and downright creepy exhibits that will amuse and amaze--like photos of Rodney Fox, who survived a great white shark attack, or Bakur the Gypsy, who once danced for an hour with a massive pot that held his twin babies on his head. Glimpse historic artifacts such as a lock of George Washington's hair and a Fiji Island mermaid statue that was toted as the real thing by P.T. Barnum.

The Walk

Anyone who wants to mix a little bargain shopping into their trip can take a walk on The Walk. This 320,000-foot complex is stocked with shopping outlets, restaurants, plazas, fountains and plenty of interesting entertainment options. At eight full city blocks, it's an amusing way to spend a full afternoon or evening. The Walk can be as expensive or inexpensive as you make it, depending on where you eat and what you want to buy.

Atlantic City Aquarium

From colorful clownfish to ruthless piranhas, moray eels to loggerhead sea turtles, the Atlantic City Aquarium has a fetching array of sea life on display. A few touch tanks, where visitors can touch sharks and stingrays, are also on hand, as is a rainforest exhibit. Admission gets you all of the attractions plus entry to a live diver feeding show, where a diver hand feeds mid-Atlantic sealife while submerged in a 25,000-gallon tank. You even get a chance to interact with the diver while the 20-minute feeding is in progress.
