Best Value
The best value for any hotel in the Bahamas is the off-season. The peak season for this island runs from the middle of December through the middle of April. The tourism industry is so eager for guests during the off-season from April to December that you can often get a hotel discount of more than 50 percent off. The off-season is really an ideal time to go for outdoor recreation because the Bahamas never really gets that hot and you'll have entire stretches of beach almost to yourself. Of course, there is one downside: June to November is hurricane season and you do not want to be there if a hurricane hits.
All-Inclusive Resorts
Club Med and Sandals introduced the concept of all-inclusive resorts to the Bahamas and it has since become a very popular option. All-inclusive simply means that the price of your accommodations, meals and entertainment are all included. A good piece of advice is to check around to see if the price of renting watersports equipment is included because some hotels will provide this as part of the inclusive price. The best thing about going all-inclusive is that should be no big surprises when the final bill arrives.
Meal Plans
Hotels and resorts offer various dining plans for visitors. Visitors from Europe will most likely want to take advantage of the European Plan which allows you to pay for the price of the room and then eat elsewhere. There may or may not be restrictions on where you can eat. For Americans, consider the American Plan or the Modified American Plan. The American Plan includes breakfast, lunch and dinner while the modified plan includes breakfast and either lunch or dinner. For those who plan to be out taking advantage of the recreational activities around the island, it is probably wise to avoid buying into any meal plan and just catch a meal where you can.
