Ohio offers some great fishing throughout the state. It is well known for the large and abundant Crappie and Muskellunge, but also offers great Bluegill, Bass and Catfish fishing. The numerous lakes spread throughout the state offer the best fishing due to their shallow depths and abundant shade. Fishing in Ohio is typically most successful before 9 a.m. Small rapalas and bright colored jigs have proven to be successful for catching fish throughout the state. Before fishing one of the great Ohio lakes, make sure to check horse power and fishing restrictions.

Delaware Lake

Delaware Lake is located in central Ohio 30 miles north of Columbus. It is 1300 acres and has a maximum depth of 35 feet. Delaware Lake is known for its Crappie fishing but is also stocked with Bluegill, Bass, Catfish, Muskie, Saugeye and Walleye. Fish structures and boat ramps are located on the east side of the lake. Fishing is typically better on the north section of the lake.

Knox Lake

Knox Lake is located in northeast Ohio about 50 miles northeast of Columbus. Is covers 495 acres and 12 miles of shoreline. Knox Lake is known for large Catfish and Crappie but also has populations of Muskellunge, Bluegill, Bass and Yellow Perch. Boat ramps and marinas are located on the north and south shores. There is a 10 horse power limit for boats on the lake adding to relaxing fishing.

Cowan Lake

Cowan Lake is located in southwest Ohio about 60 miles northeast of Cincinnati. The lake covers 700 acres with 17 miles of shoreline and an average depth of 18 feet. There is a 10 horse power limit for boats. Cowen Lake is known for the large Crappie and is also stocked with Bass, Bluegill, Catfish, Bullhead and Carp. There are numerous boat ramps, bait shops, boat rental and campgrounds located around the lake.

Piedmont Lake

Piedmont Lake is known as one of the best fishing lakes in Ohio. It is located in the southeast portion of the state about 90 miles south of Cleveland. It covers 2,310 acres with 36 miles of shoreline. Piedmont Lake is known for its Muskellunge and Catfish but also has large populations of Crappie, Bass, Bluegill and Walleye. Piedmont Lake is one of the most scenic and secluded fishing lakes in Ohio. The only boat launch, bait shop and boat rental is located on the northern end of the lake.
