Things to Do in Niagra Falls, Canada

Visiting Niagara Falls from the U.S. side can be a little disappointing--not because of the falls themselves, which are an incredible sight, but because across the river lies a Canadian city bristling with lights and seemingly action. And the view is true to reality; Niagara Falls, Ontario, really is filled with things to do and see, including viewing the falls, trying your luck at one of the city's many casinos and visiting the town's landmark Konica Minolta Tower.

See the Falls

The great thing about Niagara Falls, Ontario, is that so many restaurants and hotels have gone to great lengths to face the falls themselves. This means you can enjoy the falls from a variety of lookout points and while engaged in a variety of activities. However you look at it, though, the falls are an incredible natural phenomenon, hurling 4 million cubic feet of water over its edges--and down 170 feet--each minute. A number of lookout points exist right along the river.

Visit a Casino

Niagara Falls, Ontario, is well-known for its many casinos. They're one reason the city gleams so brightly (and enticingly?) from the dimmer American side. You might want to begin at the Casino Niagara--which offers a whopping 1,700 slot machines and 70 gaming tables, as well as a comedy club, live music and several dining options. The Fallsview Casino Resort Hotel is another good option, with even more slots (3,000) and gaming tables (130), plus restaurants and live entertainment.

Ascend the Tower

A visit to Niagara Falls, Ontario, would be incomplete without a trip to the Konica Minolta Tower. A structure that would easily stand out in any city, the Konica Minolta Tower rises 500 feet above the gorge, offering incredible views of the falls themselves and featuring its own observation deck. The Konica Minolta Tower is additionally home to a high-in-the-sky restaurant called the Pinnacle, offering gourmet cuisine including Black Angus steaks and local wines.
