The Lobster Shack

The Lobster Shack in southern Maine's Cape Elizabeth was voted No. 1 by Yelp users. It's popular for its casual paper-plate dining, sandy beach "dining room" and fresh market-price lobster and lobster rolls. It also serves clam chowder, burgers, fries and its own special onion rings. One of the few lobster shacks with an indoor dining room, its season lasts a little bit longer than other shacks, opening in March and closing at the end of October. Watch the waves crashing into the rocky shore, ships coming in and out of the harbor and get an up-close look at Cape Elizabeth's lighthouses.

Five Fifty-Five

Portland's Five Fifty-Five is the top restaurant that serves lobster. Definitely not a down-home, casual dining experience, Five Fifty-Five is repeatedly awarded the Wine Spectator's Award of Excellence. Chef Steve Corry prepares a gourmet menu using fresh, local and seasonal ingredients. Served on crisp white tablecloths in a fine-dining atmosphere, one of Corry's specialties is his Knuckle Sandwich, with fresh local lobster. Salads are served with local wild greens and a huge assortment of cheeses, wines and local mushrooms.

Reviewers at Trip Advisor have voted Five Fifty-Five as the top lobster-serving restaurant. As of August 2009, the only two restaurants with more votes were The Green Elephant, a vegetarian restaurant and Bintliff's American Cafe, a fine-dining brunch restaurant, neither of which serves lobster.
