Compare Walking Shoes for Women
Whether you choose to walk on urban trails or on more rugged paths, it is important to select a shoe designed for walking that will provide comfort, support and durability. Technology has come a long way when it comes to women's walking shoes, and most manufacturers have incorporated materials that absorb moisture, enhance air circulation and breathability, and mold to the foot in a way that helps prevent injuries and absorbs shocks.

Patagonia Bly Shoe

Designed for walking or casual hiking, the Bly's carbon footbed and breathable polyester lining make it well suited for absorbing moisture and odors. Targeting an audience that loves to spend time on rougher terrain, the rubber heel and toe bumpers are built with extra protection and to resist abrasions. The shoe also uses Patagonia "Air Cushion Plus" technology to provide comfort and support for long periods of time. The Bly Shoe retails for approximately $110.

Merrell Siren Ventilator

The Merrell Siren Ventilator has been well received by stores and websites that sell outdoor sports apparel, including Masseys, Backcountry.com and Eastern Mountain Sports. All give this women's walking shoe high marks when it comes to air circulation, comfort and support. Backcountry.com reports the specially molded heel helps minimize blisters. It also points out that Merrell added an extra-dense footbed to absorb shock when on rocky trails and additional tread to provide increased grip on sloping surfaces. The Merrell Siren Ventilator retails for between $80 and $90.

The Solera Lo

German outdoor shoe manufacturer Lowa has been making walking, mountaineering and hiking shoes for more than 75 years. The Solera Lo costs about $100 and is marketed as an outdoor shoe for fitness walkers or urban hikers who put a lot of mileage into their shoes. The shoe is meant to take a bigger beating---while offering cushioned support---than a typical athletic shoe thanks to its bi-injected PU midsole.
