Kinds of Mongoose Freestyle Bikes
In the 1980s, the Mongoose brand of bikes began production on a small scale in California. The company strongly supports BMX racing. It grew quickly and expanded into other bike types, such as mountain bikes. Mongoose produces its bikes in two formats---one for bike shops and another for department stores. The bike-shop versions, made with higher quality components, withstands more use compared to the department store versions. As of 2009, Mongoose manufactures five types of freestyle bikes. Each bike is customizable, if you buy at a bike shop. Other types of Mongoose bikes were produced in previous years. All prices reflect the manufacturer's suggested retail price listed on the Mongoose website.

Subject

The least expensive of the freestyle bikes produced for 2010 is the Subject. The Mongoose website notes a price of $239.99 in 2009. Both the frame and fork is a full hi-ten. Mongoose manufactured the bike with a one-piece Forged Cromo 175mm, 36T steel chain-ring crankset and chain wheel, a loose ball bottom bracket, Mongoose resin pedals, 13t freewheel cog set, KMC Z-510 chain, and alloy 36H front, 48H rear rims.

Pit Crew

Next in the 2010 Mongoose freestyle lineup, the Pit Crew costs $249.99 as of 2009. Both the frame and fork is full hi-ten. The model features mid-sealed bearing eight-spline bottom bracket, Mongoose resin pedals, odyssey 13t freewheel cog set, KMC Z-510 chain and alloy 36H rims.

Capture

Following the Pit Crew is the Capture, which costs $289.99 as of 2009. This model contains a full hi-ten frame and fork, mid-sealed bearing eight-spline bottom bracket, three-piece tubular cromo, 175mm, 36T steel chain-ring crankset and chain wheel, Mongoose polycarbon pedals, odyssey 13t freewheel cog set, KMC Z-510 chain and alloy 36H front, 48H rear rims.

Article

The 2010 Article costs $329.99 as of 2009. This model uses a cromo front triangle frame, a cromo steerer fork, three-piece tubular cromo 175mm 33T steel chain ring crankset and chain wheel, mid-sealed bearing eight-spline bottom bracket, Mongoose polycarbon pedals, odyssey 12t cassette cog set, KMC Z-510 chain and alloy 36H front, 48H rear rims.

Diagram

The most expensive model in the 2010 freestyle bikes by Mongoose is the Diagram. According to the Mongoose website, the bike costs $419.99 as of 2009. As the cream of the crop, the bike features a cromo front triangle frame, a cromo steerer fork, three-piece tubular cromo, 175mm, 25t alloy chainring, mid-sealed bearing eight-spline bracket bottom, Mongoose polycarbon pedals, 9t cassette, loose ball cog set, KMC Z-510 chain and goliath double wall 36H rims.
