Mesquite, Nevada, offers a respite for travelers passing through the American Southwest. This quiet community is located in the Virgin River Valley along the Nevada/Arizona border. Mesquite fills with temporary residents and retirees each winter due to its warm weather and beautiful views. Travelers interested in camping, hiking and extreme sports need not leave Mesquite's city limits to pursue their interests. The following attractions offer days of entertainment for outdoor enthusiasts of all ages.

Skydive Mesquite

Skydive Mesquite offers skydiving lessons for beginners and experts from Mesquite Municipal Airport. Every diver starts the Skydive Mesquite experience with a three-hour training course certified by the United States Parachute Association. The Skydive Mesquite plane takes students to 13,000 feet above eastern Nevada for free falling and maneuvering. The company works with experienced skydivers on solo parachuting, canopy navigation and tricks. Skydive Mesquite schedules private parties, corporate events and efforts at skydiving records year round.

Recreation Center Park

Recreation Center Park in Mesquite is a multipurpose park adjacent to the city's Recreation Center. Families enjoy games of baseball, softball and catch using the diamond located at the heart of the park. The city maintains a soccer field with a synthetic surface at Recreation Center Park for impromptu games and youth tournaments. The park offers an entry point to the Roadrunner Trail, which is part of Mesquite's multiuse trail system. The adjacent Recreation Center features an indoor climbing wall, two heated swimming pools and a fitness room to encourage exercise.

Desert Skies RV Resort

Desert Skies RV Resort is filled with 33-by-46-foot camping slots. The resort is near Mesquite's hiking and biking paths as well as stables offering horseback tours. Guests at the Desert Skies RV Resort pursue their competitive spirits with shuffleboard courts, horseshoe pits and a billiards room.
