San Francisco is a city that offers many attractions and Labor Day is no different. There are several interesting festivals and outdoor activities that take place during the holiday weekend in the city by the bay. Check out all the great nature related opportunities available during Labor Day in San Francisco.

Shakespeare in the Park

Head for Golden Gate Park where you can take in a free show. The Shakespeare Festival features several of the works of the great playwright set within the backdrop of Golden Gate Park with shade trees and gorgeous scenery surrounding the stage. The Shakespeare Festival includes 12 regular stage actors and a supporting cast performing plays like "A Comedy of Errors" and "Hamlet." The Shakespeare Festival takes place every summer in Golden Gate Park running through the end of September. There are also some special workshops where you can enjoy a one-hour hands-on lesson in how to be a stage actor and perform the works of the Bard.

Kings Mountain Art Fair

Travel just a few miles south of San Francisco to Woodside for the Kings Mountain Art Fair. Set within this mountain community, the Art Fair is a collection of art and exhibits from San Francisco area artists who gather here every year to display there work. There is also a special section of the fair set aside for Mountain Folk Art that has grown in popularity each year. This three-day event takes place every Labor Day weekend and proceeds from the fair support the Kings Mountain volunteer fire brigade. Kings Mountain is in the heart of the coastal redwoods at about 2,250 foot elevation, with a great view of the city of San Francisco just below the hills.
