You can only spend so much time snoozing on the beach. If you are looking for outdoor adventure, Oahu has you covered. With its magnificent natural wonders, such as volcanoes, waterfalls, beaches and forests, there is no shortage of sights to see. Hike along soaring cliffs, play a game of golf in the rainforest or explore the open seas.

Hiking

With its volcanic mountains, sandy beaches and lush tropical forests, hiking opportunities abound in Oahu. Trek out to Kaena Point, a slice of lava shorelines that juts into the ocean, shrouded in mystery. Legend has it that recently deceased souls meet their long-dead families and ancestors here. The swirling currents here are extremely dangerous and Kaena Point features the largest waves in Hawaii. It is too perilous to venture into the water here, but the magnificent cliff-top views make it a worthy hiking destination.

Snorkeling

Some of Hawaii's most beautiful treasures can only be seen under water. You won't be disappointed by the abundance of marine wildlife that the living reef at Hanauma Bay provides. This nature preserve at Koko Head Beach Park is a bay that was formed by a volcanic crater. Besides its world-class snorkeling, Hanauma Bay is popular for its gorgeous beaches and calm waters for swimming.

Golf

Are you up for a challenge? Hard-core golf enthusiasts will be itching to play a round at Ko'olau Golf Club, situated below the Pali lookout. This 18-hole course is considered to be the most difficult one in the United States. Even if you play a terrible game, you won't be disappointed by the view. The golf course is carved out of a tropical rainforest and surrounded by cliffs, waterfalls and jungle ravines.

Kayaking

Oahu is home to Lanikai and Kailua Beach, both of which have earned the prestigious title of Best Beach in America. The powdery white sand melts into the turquoise blue ocean water. This beach is protected from strong currents and waves by a natural barrier reef. Many companies offered guided kayak tours so that you can take advantage of learning about all the abundant sea life. See endangered sea turtles, dolphins and humpback whales. Watch tropical fish swim below you through the crystal clear waters.

Fishing

If you are serious about fishing, the deep-sea fishing opportunities on Oahu's shores will not disappoint you. Book a chartered fishing trip for the best chances of catching Blue Marlin, Yellowfin Tuna, Wahoo and Mahi Mahi. In fact, the biggest marlin ever caught, which weighed in at 1,805 pounds, was caught off the coast of Oahu.
