Myrtle Beach State Park dates to the 1930s as a conservation effort and is located three miles south of downtown Myrtle Beach. It protects 312 acres of beachfront and forests. The Sculptured Oak Nature Trail gives hikers a chance to see the last stand of maritime forest on the northern coast of South Carolina. An equestrian trail for visitors who bring their own horses is open from late November to the end of February.
