Suggested SLR Cameras for Beginners

Suggested SLR Cameras for Beginners
SLR cameras, or single-lens reflex cameras, capture exactly what the photographer sees in the viewfinder. Before these cameras, the image in the viewfinder could be vastly different than the resulting photograph. There are a number of SLR cameras on the consumer market, but for beginners, there are a few good options.

Canon EOS 500D

This camera is a lower-end Canon model, but it has basic attributes for beginners. First, the LCD screen is large and responsive, with crisp images. Second, the camera shoots high-resolution video in 1080dp -- a classification of high-definition technology. Navigating between photos and videos is easy with the simple construction and on-screen options. One drawback is that the viewfinder only shows about 95 percent of the image that will ultimately be found on the photograph.

Olympus E-620

This camera is similarly a lower-end model in the Olympus line. One of the clever features on this camera is the rotating LCD screen that allows customers to review pictures more easily. Another feature that's helpful for beginners is the back-lighted buttons on the camera. These help with night shots. For true beginners, the Olympus E-620 offers one of the best auto-focus features in the standard SLR camera line. Unfortunately, this camera does not take videos -- a drawback for amateur filmmakers.

Sony A330

This model is also called the Sony Alpha DSLR-A330. One of its best features is its ability to take on more than one memory card. This will help amateur photographers continue to take shots without having to transfer photos from one disk. Additionally, this Sony camera takes shots faster than some of its competitors. This also allows an amateur photographer to point and shoot over and over, and then review the shots for accuracy and design. One drawback with this camera is its poor viewfinder.
