Yosemite National Park Lodging

Yosemite National Park Lodging
One of the most popular national parks in the country, Yosemite provides lodging choices to meet a variety of needs. Backcountry camping is permitted year-round throughout much of the park and campgrounds are available mainly on a first-come, first-served basis. However, for those looking for real lodging choices, Yosemite gives visitors great options.

Yosemite Lodge

If Yosemite Falls is what draws you to the park, then you can't beat Yosemite Lodge. In addition to being located closer to the park than the other lodges, you can choose between standard and deluxe accommodations. Families should look into the expansive family rooms that come with a king-size bed, two singles, and a sofa bed with queen-size mattress. Amenities include television and private bathrooms. Dine at the Mountain Room restaurant and lounge or at the food court where breakfast, pizza, pasta, grilled entrees and veggies are served. The food court also makes it easy to pack takeout as you head for the hiking trails.

Ahwahnee Hotel

The Ahwahnee Hotel is a national historic landmark. The best part about staying here is probably the extensive choice of accommodations. The main building features standard, classic and featured rooms. The standard rooms are elegantly decorated in Native American themes while the classic rooms provide better views of the awesome scenery of the surrounding park. Featured rooms provide a balcony for outside enjoyment. The rustic cottages offer more privacy and contact with the natural surroundings, but be aware they are not equipped with air conditioning. There are four parlors that can be combined with hotel rooms to create suites. Two junior suites provide a very special lodging experience inside Yosemite.

White Wolf Lodge

Available only from mid-June to mid-September, the White Wolf Lodge is actually a small compound of 24 canvas tent cabins and four hard-side cabins. Those looking for privacy should look elsewhere, as a sense of community is what drives this little spot. Guests share a dining room and no private facilities for cooking are available. The canvas tent cabins have no electricity, but do have beds and a wood-burning stove. The hard-sided cabins provide electricity for lighting, but are heated with propane.
