The Best Vacation Spots in North America

The Best Vacation Spots in North America
Traveling in North America offers a plethora of possibilities. From the dramatic mountains of the West, to sun and surf on the West or East Coast to cities offering historical and cultural immersion. There is something for everyone. History buffs will enjoy wondering through the nation's capital while food and wine connoisseurs can drink and eat to their hearts content in California Wine Country. Outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers will be lost for words as they hike through The Grand Canyon and worries will melt away upon entering the world of Disney World in Florida. These four places offer four experiences that are unique to North America and deserve to be on everyone's "to do" list.

Grand Canyon, Arizona

Everyone needs to visit the Grand Canyon once in their life. This spectacular wonder of the world is 277 miles long, up to 18 miles wide and a mile deep. It is immense. The canyon can be accessed from the North or South Rim. Most people opt to visit the South Rim as it is easily accessible from Flagstaff, Arizona. However the North Rim has the advantage of being a little off the beaten path and as a result is less crowded. The Grand Canyon offers a plethora of hiking possibilities and water lovers should consider booking a rafting trip (reservations need to be made in advance).

Disney World, Florida

Children and adults alike fall in love with Disney World. The "real" world melts away as you enter a world where all that matters is how much fun you are having. Choose to spend the day behind the scenes at Hollywood at Disney's Hollywood, cool down on the water slides at Disney's Blizzard Beach, snorkel with sharks at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon, learn about different nations at Epcot Center, experience the world's largest animal park and of course say hello to Mickey Mouse at Magic Kingdom. There is truly something for everyone.

Washington D.C.

The nation's capital offers a chance to learn about American history while enjoying the pleasures of a bustling city. Spend a day walking along the National Mall, get lost in the National Gallery of Art or the Air and Space Museum and stare in amazement as you pass the White House and the State Capitol. The neighborhoods of Dupont Circle and Georgetown offer great people watching, outdoor cafes and some hip shopping.

Wine Country, California

Love gourmet food and wine but don't want to travel to Europe? Then this is the place for you. Start your trip with a couple days exploring the cosmopolitan city of San Francisco then rent a car and drive up to Napa and Sonoma Valley. Located a couple hours north of San Francisco, these charming towns are easily accessible and offer world class hotels, exquisite food and wonderful cabernet sauvignon. If you want to get off the beaten path, then consider exploring the Russian River and Alexander Valley. These two valleys offer pastoral landscapes and some great Pinot Noir.
