Nike Air Max HealthWalker
The Healthwalker line from Nike provides a fairly standard and entirely functional walking shoe for men and women. It's made with comfort in mind with a full foam lining. Using Nike's "Rolling Rail" design for stability, the shoe also stands up to wear and tear with DRC (a durable combination of real and synthetic rubber) in the outer-sole. Finally, like any good walking shoe, Nike Air HealthWalkers have reflective underlays for added safety during night or morning walking.
Asics Gel-Cardio
Asics makes its Gel-Cardio line of walking shoes for pretty serious, perhaps long-distance walkers. The shoes are designed for those who want to increase the amount and speed of their workout, but don't want to suffer from circulation or compression problems. They have a bamboo and charcoal lining that absorbs moisture and odor, and a ComfortDry insole that provides cushioning while removing moisture. They're also equipped with 3M reflective material for increased nighttime visibility. Additionally, the shoe fastens with a zipper instead of shoe laces, so you won't have to waste any time retying.
Ryka MC2 Walk
This walking shoe is intended for long-distance walkers, especially over uneven terrain. The heel design provides increased support and stability, and the forefoot has extra cushioning. The high-abrasion rubber on the outside heel and sole gives extra traction while you walk, and durability over the life of the shoe. The upper has reflective material for low light visibility. This shoe comes in a similar version intended for running, the Ryka MC2 Run.
Saucony Grid Omni Walker
The Omni Walker is built with a "Rearfoot Grid System," or woven filaments that create extra cushioning and support where the heel impacts the most. The forefoot has a "High Rebound Compound," or highly responsive rubber that provides extra cushioning. However, all these extra insole features do make the shoe a bit heavier than some of the others at 13 oz.
Allrounder By Mephisto
If you're a women who walks a lot at work or plans to walk a lot on a vacation, but you don't want to wear heavy, clunky walking shoes all day, consider the more stylish and feminine Allrounders. Their style resembles a Mary Jane shape rather than a trainer, often with colored suede or leather uppers and a Velcro strap. The lower profile is great for wearing jeans, while the padded collar adds comfort. While Mephisto Allrounders are a much cuter shoe than other walking shoes, you won't have to worry about traction or support due to their thick tread and anatomically designed foot-bed.
