The Best Tent Heaters

The Best Tent Heaters
The importance of a tent heater becomes abundantly clear when you find yourself getting to your campsite late at night, just as the temperature starts dropping. Once you get your tent set up, all you need to do is place one of the best heaters inside and you'll start feeling warm and toasty.

Confined Space Tent Heater

The Confined Space Tent Heater from Allegro Industries was designed for use in work tents, but many customers have also used it in their own camping tents. The heater is guaranteed to increase temperatures up to 50 degrees higher, but you can also use lower settings and adjust the heat. A nine-foot electrical cord lets you plug the heater outside the tent to avoid tripping over the cord. The Confined Space Tent Heater retails for around $400 in 2009.

Coleman ProCat Heater

The ProCat Heater from Coleman is their latest type of heater in 2009 and features an InstaStart that lets you turn it on without lighting anything. The heater works using an AC adapter if you have access to electricity, or you can use D batteries if you don't have electricity. It also comes with its own fan to increase the circulation of the heat and spread the heat around larger areas. You can find the ProCat for less than $100.

Coleman BlackCat

The Coleman BlackCat Heater is a favorite among campers and works using a small one-pound propane cylinder. The heater starts when you push the button and doesn't require the lighting of a pilot light. You can easily adjust the temperature and heat by turning the knob on the front of the machine. You can also use the heater inside your home, on hunting trips and other trips that take you outside. The BlackCat Heater retails for around $60 in 2009.

Mr. Heater Portable LP Gas Heater

This heater was designed with safety in mind and features an automatic pilot shutoff that turns off the pilot light when the oxygen reaches a certain level to prevent explosions. You can even use this in your home or a camper by mounting it on one wall, and it works with a one-pound propane tank. The heater works in areas as large as 200 square feet and is lightweight enough to carry it with you on trips. The heater retails for $100 in 2009; a smaller version sells for $60.
