Hiking the Everglades
The world-famous Everglades swamps are next to Miami and offer extensive hiking trails. For a longer hike, a series of hikes, or backpacking, be sure to hit the Florida Trail. Starting out from the Big Cypress region in the area where the Trail first began in 1966, you can embark on a hike that will take you a day, a weekend, or more than a week. Maintained by volunteers and community supported, the Florida Trail is marked by blaze orange indicators and easy to follow. Diver's Den
Miami offers some exciting scuba-diving options, including dives to the Spirit of Miami, an artificial reef created by sinking a 727 jet in the ocean just a few miles off of Miami. Diver's Den, which has been serving Miami's divers for more than 30 years, offers regularly guided dives all over the Miami area, including dives to gather shark teeth and explore reefs. It also host trips out to Key Largo to explore shipwrecks. With on-site instruction and support, as well as a store to address any last-minute diving equipment needs, Diver's Den is the place to start your underwater Miami adventure.

Just because there are no mountains in Miami doesn't mean you can't go rock climbing. X-treme, Miami's biggest indoor climbing gym, offers 14,000 square feet of climbing surfaces for climbers of every experience level, including routes set by nationally certified professionals. The facilities also include a yoga lounge, a pro shop, and free wireless internet. X-treme Rock Climbing is a popular facility, so reservations are strongly recommended, but this Miami climbing hot spot is well worth the effort.
