Berlin Germany Cheap Hostels

Berlin is a popular destination for travelers touring Germany. As the country's capital, it is also home to a number of renowned universities, which add a youthful vigor to the city's overall look and feel. The least expensive way of spending one or more nights in Berlin is by booking a bed at a hostel. Since backpacking is a time-honored travel tradition in Europe, hostels in Berlin are plentiful. Some offer inexpensive breakfasts, while other provide free Internet access for guests. In some cases, you might even find a single bedroom for ultimate privacy at cut-rate prices.

Rent a one-bed room at the Grand Hostel Berlin, or opt for a room that has two, three or four beds. These rooms share one bathroom. Prices in 2009 start at 40 euros (about $57) for the one-bed room, and go down to about 23 euros ($33) for the rooms with four beds. These costs include linens. This hostel offers bicycle rentals to allow travelers a great means of discovering Kreuzberg without having to rely on public transportation or a rental car. Catch up with your emails via the free WiFi service. You can use the computers at the bar, if one is available. While in Berlin's Kreuzberg, do not forget to visit Checkpoint Charlie, the Viktoriapark, and stroll along the Landwehrkanal that runs along the Spree River.

The Happy Bed Hostel was established in 2000. The venue offers rooms with two, three and four beds starting at 15.50 euros (about $22) in 2009. If you would prefer to share a bedroom but not a bathroom, you can opt for a room with private facilities, starting at 19 euros ($27). All prices include access to the breakfast buffet, but not linens--unless you stay for more than just one night. Onsite you can enjoy a game of pool or table soccer, as well as right of entry to a community television room and Internet cafe. You have convenient access to the metro and the tram, which makes it easy to visit the sights of interest in Steglitz. They include the Holocaust memorial known as the Spiegelwand, and the shopping mecca on Schloss Straße.

In 2009, the least expensive way to spend a night here is to opt for renting a bed in the eight- to 10-bed dormitory for 12 euros ($17). Spending the night in a room with four beds is a bit more costly at 16 euros ($23); the same accommodation with access to a shower costs 18 euros ($26). These prices include bed linens and hand towels. Other costs you need to factor in are 4 euros ($6) for the breakfast buffet and Internet access for 0.50 euros ($0.71) per hour. The Frosch Hostel is a nonsmoking venue. You will find this hostel in the Prenzlauer Berg neighborhood of the Pankow district. Students and artists frequent the streets, and coffee shops are copious. The Mauerpark is an important sightseeing opportunity, as it marks part of the location of the infamous Berlin Wall.
