The Extreme Hotel is the oldest privately owned hotel in the city. It offers a restaurant that serves all meals as well as a bar that serves snacks. The rooms on the first floor are the best-maintained and most modern, and they include breakfast, so they are worth the slightly higher cost. The hotel also features a pool, a well-equipped gym and laundry facilities. The Extreme Hotel is centrally located and within walking distance of many of Addis Ababa's historical districts and museums, and it offers one of the best values in the city.

Ghion Hotel
A first-class hotel housed in a former palace, the Ghion Hotel features expansive grounds with many exotic plants and flowers, as well as bird-watching.
