There are several things to consider when purchasing a women's running shoe. Because an improper shoe can cause problems as high up in your body as your lower back, finding the best shoe can be stressful and tedious. The best shoes will offer comfort and stability throughout the shoe, accommodate any foot injuries or issues you might have, and lack pressure points or hot spots which could lead to rashes or blistering.

Brooks Ariel

This is one of the best shoes in terms of motion control and stability. It has an excellent fit, great heel cushioning, and is also one of the best shoes on the market for individuals dealing with over-pronation. It retails in 2009 at $130.

Asics Women's Gel Nimbus 9

This shoe is known for its exceptional cushioning and advanced shock system. It provides solid support to the ankle and is great for anyone with weak ankles or a history of ankle sprains. It retails at $110 in 2009.

Asics GT-2120

The GT-2120 is Asics' best-known model for trail running. It provides great traction and a stiff sole to minimize shock from uneven surfaces while remaining lightweight like a road running shoe. Its retail price in 2009 is $95.
