Snorkel at Lydgate Beach Park
If you're traveling with children, or if you're not that comfortable in the water, Lydgate Beach Park is the best place on Kauai to learn how to snorkel. According to the website 101 Things to Do Kauai, the beach park has two rock-rimmed pools of water that are protected from the open ocean. Both pools are great for beginner snorkelers and children, even when the ocean is particularly wavy. At Lydgate, you'll be able to see lots of unique fish that can only be found in Hawaiian waters, like the Hawaiian Lionfish.

Paddle a River
Kauai has many rivers that are excellent for paddling. One such popular river to paddle is Wailua River. Wailua River is actually two rivers that become one body of water for a mile, just upstream from where it converges with the ocean. Many companies offer guided tours along Wailua River. Outfitters Kauai offers a paddle-hike tour that takes you through a Hawaiian rainforest and up to a 100-foot waterfall.
