Lake Tahoe boasts seven full-service ski areas. Because of its location on the California/Nevada border, it offers a diverse mixture of activities, which range from skiing to casino hopping. In the summer, Lake Tahoe is a popular biking, hiking, boating and fishing destination.

Pre-Season Conditioning at Northstar-At-Tahoe

Northstar-at-Tahoe offers pre-season conditioning classes in September and October. Classes meet from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. The six-week outdoor fitness program costs $195, and emphasizes balance, agility and power. Northstar's Annual Autumn Food and Wine Festival also takes place in September. Additionally, there are a number of guided hike and biking tours.

North American Ski Training Center

The North American Ski Training Center, otherwise known as NASTC, offers a variety of Lake Tahoe courses, which include avalanche safety training, pre-season conditioning, backcountry skiing, women's ski clinics and an off-season skate to ski course, which uses specially-designed inline skates and ski poles. The elite staff consists of members of the Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) demo team.

Ski Clinics At Squaw Valley

Skiclinics.com is the brainchild of Dan Egan, founder of the Egan Entertainment Network; John Egan, who was rated by "Ski Magazine" as one of the top skiers in the United States; and Eric Deslauriers, author of "Ski the Whole Mountain." Their Squaw Valley Lake Tahoe Clinic usually takes place in late January and early February, and specializes in steeps and off-piste skiing.
