Calico Ghost Town
Located on the side of King Mountain, Calico Ghost Town lived and died in less than 20 years. Today it's an honest-to-goodness ghost town, with several of the original buildings still standing. Walk down Main Street, past the one-room school-house, the saloon and the blacksmith's shop and even pan for real gold. Calico Ghost Town has been used as the location for many Hollywood movies, like "From Dust 'til Dawn," "The Hitcher," "Erin Brockovich," "Broken Arrow" and "Jai Chiranjeeva."

Belmont Park Beachside Amusement
At San Diego's Mission Beach, the seaside Belmont park offers visitors wave machines and a swimming pool for clean, salt-free water play as well as a huge arcade, midway games, miniature golf, a mirror maze, a laser maze and two 25-foot coconut trees for guests to climb. Kids enjoy racing to the top of the trees and riding the old-fashioned carnival rides, like the tilt-a-whirl, bumper cars and the Giant Dipper, a 1925 wooden roller coaster.

This 477-acre park in Orange County has miles of bicycling and walking trails that lead through six playgrounds, two horse shoe pits, four softball fields, a lagoon and volleyball courts. Picnic areas, concession stands, a bandstand, equestrian trails and train rides are entertaining diversions that make this park fun for all ages and personalities. They also offer fishing and paddle boat rental.
