List of Airlines in North America

List of Airlines in North America
North America offers an incredible array of outdoor activities, from hiking the Continental Divide, to bicycling along the Pacific Coast. Since the continent is so large, it does not have a rapid and efficient rail system like Europe does, so air travel is the easiest way to cross long distances.

Frontier

Frontier Airlines is rated four out of five stars, according to SkyTrax, the only international airline ranking company. This means that while they may not be perfect, they offer high standards in customer service, customer satisfaction, and timeliness. Frontier is based in Denver and offers flights throughout the United States, as well as to Mexico and Costa Rica. Meals are provided by Grizwald's Gourmet Cafe, and are not included with flight prices. Frontier Airline's Airbus flights offer DirecTV and in-flight movies for purchase as well.

JetBlue

JetBlue is also a four-star SkyTrax airline, and it shows in their commitment to offer passengers more. This includes a host of free extras like name-brand snacks, XM Radio, DirecTV, and extra leg room. Even more leg room is available on select flights for a small upgrade fee. JetBlue is also taking steps to make less of an impact on the environment with their Jetting to Green program. JetBlue flies to many locations in the Caribbean, including San Juan and Barbados, in addition to flights all over the United States.

Southwest

Southwest Airlines is the biggest airline--by number of passengers--in the world. The Dallas-based low-cost carrier first began flying in 1971 and by 2006 was offering nearly 3,200 flights per day. Unlike most other airlines, booking a seat on Southwest doesn't guarantee you a specific seat on the airplane. Instead passengers board based on their boarding pass letter and can choose their seat once on board.

Air Canada

For those traveling to Canada's wide expanses of untainted wilderness, no carrier can beat Air Canada. Particularly, for smaller, cheaper flights, look to Air Canada's budget branch, Air Canada Jazz, which handles many local flights and smaller destinations. With flights originating all over the world, including South America and Europe, Air Canada is also an excellent way to get to North America to being your adventures. Through their Tango and Latitude Economy Class programs, Air Canada also offers a host of flight options, including refunds and upgrades for travelers who want to keep things flexible.
