The Types of Coleman Pop-Up Campers

The Types of Coleman Pop-Up Campers
Coleman is one of the most recognizable names in outdoor camping gear. Coleman offers a wide array of models to suit everyone's needs. Pop-up campers, or tent trailers, are a popular option for campers because most cars and minivans can tow the smaller models, and yet they still offer a large amount of sleeping space, thanks to their foldout beds and convertible dinettes.

Destiny Series

Coleman's entry-level pop-up camper is the Destiny Series, featuring gross weights in the 2,200- to 3,000-lb. range. Accommodations are sparse, but functional, with a stainless steel sink, two-burner stove and even an optional cassette toilet and shower combination on the larger models.

Americana LE Series

Next up in Coleman's lineup is the Americana LE Series, with gross weights in the 3,000- to 3,500-lb. range. Pop-up campers in the Americana LE Series feature more interior space and storage, along with twice the freshwater capacity of the Destiny Series, at 20 gallons.

Americana Series

The Americana Series of pop-up campers is similar to the largest Americana LE Series campers, with a gross weight of 3,500 lbs. The Americana Series comes standard with many features and conveniences that are optional on the lower-end models, though, like a heater, outside shower, quilted mattresses and a three-burner stove. The Americana Series also features an available power lift system, which eliminates the need to crank up the tent by hand.

Evolution Series

One of the most popular new segments in the pop-up camper market are the toy haulers that combine a traditional pop-up camper with a large cargo deck for hauling bicycles and ATVs. Coleman's Evolution Series offers cargo-hauling models with gross weights ranging from 3,500 to 7,000 lbs. Accommodations of the smaller E1 and E2 Evolution Series models are similar to the American LE Series, while the larger E3 and E4 model feature a slide-out dinette for maximum interior floor space. The E4 even includes an actual flush toilet and shower combination.

Highlander Series

For the ultimate in comfort and convenience in a pop-up camper, Coleman's Highlander Series offers many features normally found in traditional hard-sided camping trailers. The Highlander Series features slide-out dinettes, quilted mattresses, three-burner stoves and larger, and 4.5 cubic-foot refrigerators. Highlander Series models range in gross weight from 3,500 to 4,600 lbs. Larger Highlander Series models feature flush toilet and shower combinations and an available power lift system.
